Windsurf pricing, now Devin Desktop: plans, quotas, and what happened to credits and ACUs

Windsurf's credits became quotas in March and the product became Devin Desktop in June. What each plan costs now and what old subscribers kept.

Windsurf is now Devin Desktop: Cognition renamed it on June 2, 2026, and windsurf.com/pricing redirects to Devin's plans. There are five: Free with a light agent quota and unlimited Tab completions; Pro at $20 a month with daily and weekly quotas, every model and Devin's cloud agent; Max at $200 with a much larger weekly quota and no daily cap; Teams at a $80-a-month minimum, with $40 full seats that count toward it; and Enterprise, billed in ACUs. Usage beyond the quota is charged at each model's API list price. People who paid $15 a month for Windsurf Pro before March 2026 keep that price indefinitely.

Key takeaways

  • Plans: Free; Pro $20; Max $200; Teams from $80 a month; Enterprise custom.
  • Quotas, not credits: since March 19, 2026, a daily and weekly budget measured in tokens at each model's price.
  • Grandfathered: legacy Pro at $15 and Teams at $30 a seat keep their price.
  • ACUs survive only on Enterprise; self-serve plans bill extra usage in dollars.
  • Cascade is gone: since September 8, 2026, Devin Local is the only agent in Devin Desktop.

How much does Windsurf cost now?

From Devin's pricing page (Cognition):

  • Free, $0: a light agent quota (wait for the reset when it runs out), limited models, and unlimited Tab and inline edits.
  • Pro, $20 a month: daily and weekly quotas, the full model list (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI, plus open models), Devin Cloud, up to 10 sessions at once, Slack, Linear and MCP, and extra usage at API prices.
  • Max, $200 a month: a "significantly higher" weekly quota and no daily cap, for one person.
  • Teams, from $80 a month: up to 200 users, central billing and admin analytics.
  • Enterprise: custom, with SSO, VPC deployment and a dedicated account team.

The page lists monthly prices only.

How do Windsurf's quotas work?

Each paid plan has a daily and a weekly allowance, measured in dollars of tokens at each model's price; the daily one is more than a seventh of the weekly, so one heavy day doesn't wipe out the week (Cognition). Free models don't count against it. When you run out, extra usage comes from prepaid on-demand credits billed at API list prices; they roll over and don't expire.

Sample prices per million input and output tokens in Devin Desktop (Cognition):

  • Claude Opus 5.5: $4 and $20. Sonnet 5.5: $2 and $10.
  • GPT-6 Astra: $10 and $50. GPT-6.1 Sol: $2 and $10.
  • Gemini 3.8 Flash: $0.75 and $3.75.
  • Cognition's SWE models: SWE-2 is free until mid-October 2026, then $3 and $15; SWE-1.7 Medium and Max are free.

Since September 29, Pro, Max and Teams users can link a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan so that GPT usage is billed to ChatGPT instead of the Devin quota (Cognition).

How does Windsurf Teams pricing work?

Teams has an $80 monthly minimum. Each full seat costs $40 and counts toward it, so one or two seats cost $80 and three cost $120 (Cognition). A full seat gets a Pro-sized quota and Devin Desktop; free flex seats can use the team's shared credits for Devin Cloud but not the desktop app. New Teams plans don't include SSO, which is now Enterprise-only.

What happened to Windsurf credits and ACUs?

  • Credits: Windsurf Pro was $15 a month for 500 prompt credits until March 19, 2026, when credits became quotas and Pro became $20.
  • Legacy plans: "Your price is grandfathered in at $15/mo indefinitely," and legacy Teams at $30 a seat too; leftover add-on credits were converted at $0.04 each.
  • ACUs (Agent Compute Units) were Devin's measure of cloud work, sold at about $2 to $2.25 each in 2025. Since April 2026 they're used only on Enterprise contracts (Cognition).

How has Windsurf pricing changed?

  • July 2025: Cognition agreed to buy Windsurf after Google hired its founders (Cognition).
  • March 19, 2026: credits replaced by daily and weekly quotas; Pro $20, Teams $40 a seat, new Max $200.
  • April 2026: Devin's own plans merged into the same Free, Pro, Max, Teams and Enterprise ladder, and Devin Cloud came to every paid plan.
  • June 2, 2026: Windsurf renamed Devin Desktop, with pricing unchanged (Cognition).
  • September 8, 2026: the Cascade agent removed.

Does Windsurf have a student discount?

Not any more. Windsurf once offered 50% off Pro with a school email; its student pages now redirect to Devin Desktop, and Devin's pricing and docs mention no student offer.

How much is Windsurf in India?

Devin prices in US dollars only, with no regional discount. Cursor, by contrast, has an India-only Start plan at ₹649 a month (Cursor pricing).

Windsurf vs Cursor vs Claude Code pricing

  • Cursor Pro, $20: two monthly usage pools, Cursor's own models plus others at API prices (Cursor vs Windsurf).
  • Claude Pro, $20 ($17 annually): includes Claude Code with five-hour and weekly limits (Claude Code pricing).
  • GitHub Copilot Pro, $10: 1,500 AI credits a month (GitHub Copilot pricing).

Devin's cloud agent against Anthropic's is compared in Devin vs Claude Code.

One agent for the whole team

Devin's quotas and sessions belong to each seat. Poly (usepoly.co) is a shared browser room where a team works with one Claude Code or Codex agent: everyone sees each step live, and any member can approve a change before it happens. Free to start. What is Poly?
