How do you share a Claude chat with your team?

Every way to share Claude gives the other person a read-only copy. Each option, and what to use when you want to work in the chat together.

You share a Claude chat with the Share button: Claude makes a snapshot of every message sent so far, including artifacts, and you send it as a link or to specific people by email. The recipient can read it but can't reply, copy it into their own account or continue the conversation, and later messages stay private until you update the share. On Team and Enterprise plans, chats can be shared only inside your organization, and teammates can share projects, which carry the knowledge and instructions but not each other's chats. As of October 2026, Claude's chat app has no group chat; the nearest options are Claude Tag in Slack and Claude Design's group conversation for a design's editors.

Key takeaways

  • A shared Claude chat is a snapshot. Attached files stay private, and later messages need an update to the share.
  • Public links, which need no Claude account, are for Free, Pro and Max. Team and Enterprise share inside the organization.
  • Projects share knowledge and instructions, not chats. Artifacts are published separately.
  • To work with Claude together, the options are Claude Tag in Slack, on Team and Enterprise, or a shared room such as Poly.

How do you share a Claude chat?

  1. Open the chat and select Share.
  2. Choose who can see it: anyone with a link (Free, Pro and Max), specific people by email (every plan), or people in your organization (Team and Enterprise).
  3. After you send more messages, update the shared chat to show them.
  4. To stop sharing, use the Share menu, or the shared chats list in your privacy settings.

What does the other person see?

  • Every message sent before you shared, including artifacts.
  • Not your attached files, and not the raw data from connector tool calls.
  • A public link needs no Claude account and is view only; the page tells search engines not to index it.
  • An invite by email can't be forwarded and expires after 30 days. The person can't reply, copy the chat into their own account or continue the conversation.

How do you share with your team on Team or Enterprise?

  • Chats can be shared inside your organization only.
  • Projects can be shared with people in your organization as Can view or Can edit. They share the project's knowledge, its instructions and the ability to chat in it; chats inside a project are not shared by default, and each one is shared on its own as a snapshot (Anthropic).
  • Artifacts can be published to only the people you invite, anyone in your organization, or anyone with the link; sharing outside the organization needs an owner's approval. Parts that use Claude or your connectors don't work for the people you share with, and unpublishing is permanent (Anthropic).

How do you share a Claude Code session?

  • Claude Code on the web shares a cloud session by link: with your organization on Team and Enterprise, or publicly on Pro and Max. People see the latest state when they open it, not live updates (docs).
  • The /export command saves the conversation as plain text.
  • A claude.ai chat can't become a Claude Code session. We found no official way to move one into the other as of October 4, 2026.

Can two people chat with Claude at the same time?

Not in Claude's chat app. Every sharing option gives a view-only copy, chats inside a shared project stay private, Claude Code links don't update live, and Teleport and Remote Control need the same account. The request for shared Claude Code sessions, #60082, has had no reply from Anthropic since May. Three options exist outside the chat window:

  • Claude Tag, in public beta for Team and Enterprise, puts Claude in a Slack channel: anyone in the channel can tag it, and the conversation stays visible there. Slack users don't each need a Claude seat.
  • Claude Design, on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, lets a design's editors chat with Claude together in a group conversation, though Anthropic says two people editing at the same time is still basic.
  • Poly (usepoly.co) is a browser room where several people talk to the same AI, Claude included, in one live conversation. Everyone sees each message as it happens and anyone can reply, whether the group is building software or friends planning a trip. Free to start. What is Poly?

Common questions

Can someone continue a Claude chat I shared?

No. Anthropic says people you share a chat with can't reply, copy it into their own account or continue the conversation. They see a snapshot of the messages sent before you shared it.

Do shared Claude chats include my files?

No. Attached files stay private, and so does the raw data from connector tool calls. Artifacts are included.

Can I share a Claude chat publicly from a Team plan?

No. Team and Enterprise members can share chats only inside their organization. Public links are for Free, Pro and Max.

Can two people use the same Claude chat?

Not in Claude's chat app as of October 2026; every shared chat is view only. Claude Tag puts Claude in a Slack channel for Team and Enterprise, Claude Design lets a design's editors chat with Claude together, and Poly puts several people and one AI in a shared browser room.
