Claude Code for teams: plans, pricing and how teams share it

Every person who uses Claude Code needs their own seat, and no plan lets two people work in one session. What each option costs, and what it shares.

Claude Code is included in every seat of Anthropic's Team plan as of October 2026: standard seats cost $20 a month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, and premium seats, with five times the usage, cost $100 or $125. Team is for 2 to 150 people; larger organizations use Enterprise, at $20 a seat a month plus all usage at API rates. Teams can also skip seats and pay per token through the Claude Console, where Anthropic puts typical spend at $150 to $250 per developer a month. Every person who uses Claude Code needs their own seat, sharing a login breaks Anthropic's terms, and no plan lets two people work in the same session. This page sets out what each option costs, what a team plan adds, and how teams share Claude Code work today.

Key takeaways

  • Team standard seats ($20 to $25) have included Claude Code since January 28, 2026; premium seats ($100 to $125) give five times the usage.
  • Limits are per person, not pooled: 1.25 times Pro's per-session allowance on a standard seat, 6.25 times on premium, each with a weekly cap. Extra usage is billed at API rates from prepaid credits.
  • Enterprise is $20 a seat plus every token at API rates, from 20 seats.
  • Teams share Claude Code through the repository, read-only session links and Claude Tag in Slack. Two people can't steer one session.

What does a Team plan add for Claude Code?

  • Claude Code in every seat. Standard seats included, since Anthropic's January 28, 2026 change. On May 6, 2026, Anthropic doubled Claude Code's five-hour limits on Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise.
  • Usage credits. When someone passes their seat's limit, extra usage is billed at standard API prices from credits an owner buys in advance, with spend limits for the whole organization or per person (Anthropic).
  • Managed settings. Owners set Claude Code settings for everyone from the organization's settings. They apply to every user alike, with no per-group settings yet, and Anthropic's docs call them a client-side control, not a security boundary.
  • Analytics. Admins and owners see lines accepted, accept rate, daily users, sessions and a leaderboard, with a CSV export (docs). Contribution metrics, the pull requests shipped with Claude Code, are in public beta through the GitHub app. The Analytics API is not on Team.
  • SSO, central billing and admin controls, and no training on your content by default.

Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom data retention, IP allowlisting, custom roles, customer-managed keys, a HIPAA option and an Analytics API with cost per person.

Can a team share one Claude subscription?

No. Anthropic's consumer terms say you may not share your login or make your account available to anyone else, and its Max plan page describes Max as an individual plan, pointing organizations to Team and Enterprise. For a key shared across repositories in CI, Anthropic's GitHub Actions docs recommend a Console API key, because a subscription token belongs to the person who created it.

How do teams share Claude Code work today?

  • Through the repository. Commit .claude/settings.json and the project CLAUDE.md so every teammate's Claude Code starts from the same settings and context; .claude/settings.local.json stays personal. On Team and Enterprise, a managed CLAUDE.md applies to everyone in the organization.
  • Session links. Claude Code on the web shares a cloud session with your organization on Team and Enterprise, or publicly on Pro and Max. Recipients see the latest state when they open the link, not live updates, and can't prompt it.
  • Claude Tag in Slack. In public beta for Team and Enterprise: anyone in a paired Slack channel can tag Claude, Slack users don't each need a seat, and channel work bills to the organization's prepaid usage balance (Anthropic). What is Claude Tag?
  • Agent Teams. Experimental and off by default: several Claude sessions under one person, on one machine (docs). It uses about seven times the tokens when teammates run in plan mode. It adds agents, not people.
  • Cross-session messaging. Lets your own sessions message each other, not a colleague's.
  • GitHub Actions. Claude Code answers on pull requests and issues in CI (setup).

Can two people work in the same Claude Code session?

No. As of October 4, 2026, no Anthropic plan supports it. The feature request, #60082, opened May 18, 2026, has 24 upvotes, 12 comments and no reply from Anthropic. Teleport and Remote Control need the same account, and Claude Code Projects can't be shared with another user. Teams who want several people in one session use a tool around Claude Code; Collaborative Claude Code tools compares seventeen.

Where does Poly fit?

Poly (usepoly.co) runs the real Claude Code, and Codex, in a sandbox inside a browser room. Everyone in the room watches one timeline, any member can approve a change before it happens, and each turn's receipt names who ran it and what it cost. Nobody needs a Claude seat: the people who run the AI pay $20 or $50 a month for 200 or 500 credits, and everyone else watches, chats and approves for free.

To be plain about it: for one developer who uses Claude Code all day, a Claude seat's allowance goes further than Poly's credits. Poly is for the work a group does together, and many teams use both. The OpenAI side is in Codex for teams, and the two plans are compared in ChatGPT Business vs Claude Team.

Which option fits your team?

  • Two to 150 people who each code with Claude: Team, on standard seats, with premium seats for heavy users.
  • One person who uses it all day: Max.
  • Twenty or more seats that need SCIM, audit logs and cost per person: Enterprise.
  • No seats, pay for what's used, or CI: Console API keys.
  • A group, including people who don't code, steering one Claude Code session together: Poly.
