What is an AI workspace? The main AI workspaces for teams, and which share one AI
Three things the term means, the main products and their team prices, and the question that separates them: does the team work with one AI together, or each with their own?
An AI workspace is a place where a team works with AI, and in 2026 the term covers three different things: work suites with an AI built in, such as Notion, ClickUp, Slack and the ChatGPT and Claude business plans; platforms for building and running AI agents, such as Dify, n8n and Dust; and agent products that call themselves AI workspaces, such as Genspark. The difference that matters most for a team is whether people work with one AI together or each with their own. Almost every work suite gives each person a private AI over shared documents and projects. Only a few let a group steer one AI session together: Manus Collab, Claude Tag in Slack, Genspark's GenTeam and Poly. Team prices run from about $14 to $40 a person a month.
Key takeaways
- Each person's own AI, over shared work: Notion, ChatGPT Business, Claude Team, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Gemini in Google Workspace, Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda).
- One AI answering in a shared thread: Slack's agents in public mode, ClickUp's @Brain, Copilot in Teams group chats (preview).
- One AI session the group steers together: Manus Collab, Claude Tag in Slack (beta), Genspark GenTeam, Poly.
- Retired: ChatGPT's group chats, the best-known shared AI session, closed to new chats on July 9, 2026.
- Typical price: $14 to $40 per person a month for the team plans.
| Workspace | Team price | How the team uses the AI |
|---|---|---|
| Notion | Business from $20 | Each person's own; shared chats are read-only |
| ChatGPT Business | $20 annually, $25 monthly | Each person's own, over shared projects and pages |
| Claude Team | $20 annually, $25 monthly | Each person's own; Claude Tag in Slack is shared (beta) |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | $21 add-on, annual | Each person's own; Teams group chats in preview |
| Google Workspace with Gemini | From $14 | Each person's own |
| Slack | Business+ $15 annually | One agent answering publicly in a channel |
| ClickUp | Business $17 annually | @Brain answers in shared threads |
| Manus | Team $20 | One session, everyone prompts (Collab) |
| Genspark | Team $35 annually | Agents in a shared group chat |
| Poly | Free start; $20 or $50 per person who prompts | One live AI session; anyone approves or undoes |
What does "AI workspace" mean?
There's no agreed definition, and most pages ranking for the term are written by vendors. Three meanings dominate:
- A work suite with AI in it: documents, chat, tasks or email, plus an assistant that reads them. Hive's definition is an AI that "understands a team's projects, people, deadlines."
- An agent platform: an environment "where teams design, deploy, execute, and govern AI agents," in Vellum's words, covering tools like Dify, n8n, Dust, Flowise and CrewAI.
- An agent product: Genspark calls its whole product "AI Workspace," now at version 6.0.
For most teams the question is the first one: where does everyone's work with AI happen, and can the others see it?
The main AI workspaces for teams
Prices per person a month, from each company's pricing page on October 30, 2026:
- Notion (Business from $20 a member): Notion Agent, custom agents, meeting notes and search across your workspace, with Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok models. Agent chats are private or shared 1:1, and shared AI chats are read-only links.
- ChatGPT Business ($20 a seat billed annually, $25 monthly): projects shared with teammates, Pages and Spaces, team spaces since September 29, 2026, Codex and ChatGPT Work. In a shared page, "each person can ask their own ChatGPT" (ChatGPT Business pricing).
- Claude Team ($20 or $25 a seat): projects share instructions and files, but chats "will be private… unless you manually share them," and Cowork is one person's agent (Claude Team plan pricing).
- Microsoft 365 Copilot (business add-on $21 billed annually, $18 on a promotion through December 31): Copilot Pages can be co-edited, but collaborators work "without accessing your Copilot Chat session," and notebooks are private.
- Google Workspace with Gemini (from $14 a user for plans with Gemini in Docs): shared Gemini conversations let others "continue the chat… on their own."
- Slack (Business+ $15 billed annually, $18 monthly): Slackbot and other agents can answer publicly in a channel, so everyone sees the same reply.
- ClickUp (Business $17 billed annually): mention @Brain in a chat or comment and its reply is visible to everyone with access.
- Superhuman Docs, formerly Coda (Business $33 billed annually, $40 monthly, with Superhuman Mail): AI answers "stay private to you" until inserted into the doc.
Which AI workspaces let a team share one AI?
Most "collaboration" in these products is sharing what the AI produced. A few let several people work in the same AI session:
- Manus Collab (Team $20 a seat a month): invited collaborators prompt the same task, "Everyone sees each other's prompts and Manus's responses," and prompts sent at once are queued.
- Claude Tag (in Slack, beta, Claude Team and Enterprise): "Everyone in a channel works with the same Claude, so anyone can steer it or pick up where it left off," billed by usage (what is Claude Tag?).
- Genspark GenTeam (Team $35 a seat billed annually, $40 monthly): a group chat where people and agents share channels; agents answer when mentioned.
- Poly (free to start; $20 or $50 for each person who prompts): a browser room where a team works with one AI agent, Claude, GPT, Grok or Muse, in one live timeline. Everyone sees each step, any member can answer the agent's questions or approve a change before it happens, and every turn can be undone. A group chat beside it is for talk the AI never reads.
The shared-session tools suit work the team decides together: a spec, a plan, a prototype, an incident. The own-AI tools suit everything people do alone. Most teams end up with one of each.
How to choose an AI workspace
- Your team already lives in one suite (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Notion, Slack): start with its AI; it reads the files you already have.
- You want one AI subscription for everyone: ChatGPT Business or Claude Team, at the same seat prices (ChatGPT Business vs Claude Team).
- You want to build and run your own agents: an agent platform such as Dify, n8n or Dust.
- You want the team in the same AI session, not passing outputs around: Manus Collab for general tasks, Claude Tag inside Slack, or Poly for building software together (what is a multiplayer AI coding workspace?).

Common questions
What is an AI workspace?
A place where a team works with AI. The term covers work suites with an assistant built in, such as Notion or ChatGPT Business, platforms for building AI agents, such as Dify or n8n, and agent products such as Genspark's.
What is the best AI workspace for teams?
It depends on where your team works: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Gemini in Google Workspace, Notion or Slack if you already use them; ChatGPT Business or Claude Team for one AI subscription; Manus Collab, Claude Tag or Poly to share one AI session.
Can a team use one AI together?
In a few products. Manus Collab lets invited people prompt the same task, Claude Tag puts one Claude in a Slack channel, and Poly gives a team one AI agent in a shared room. Most others give each person their own AI over shared documents.
How much does an AI workspace cost?
Team plans run about $14 to $40 per person a month: Google Workspace with Gemini from $14, Slack Business+ $15, ClickUp Business $17, ChatGPT Business and Claude Team $20 billed annually, Microsoft 365 Copilot $21 as an add-on, Genspark Team $35.
Did ChatGPT have a shared workspace chat?
ChatGPT had group chats where people talked to one ChatGPT together, but OpenAI closed them to new chats on July 9, 2026. Business workspaces still share projects and pages, with each person using their own ChatGPT.
