Replit alternatives for cofounders building with AI

Replit is the default answer to "which AI builder should two cofounders use," and for a technical pair who want an IDE, hosting and deploys in one place it is a good one. Cofounders look for an alternative for four reasons: one of them does not code and gets a read-only viewer seat; they want to see and approve each change together rather than review finished tasks; they want to know who spent what; or they want a different agent, Claude or Codex, than Replit's own. Here are six alternatives, each with the reason you would pick it and the reason you would not.

Lovable

The most popular AI builder for non-technical founders: prompts become full-stack apps with hosting, auth and payments included, unlimited members on every plan, priced by credits from $25 a month. Since September 2026, teammates contribute through drafts the owner accepts.

A browser-native builder with real-time editing, one prompt at a time per project, each prompter paying with their own tokens. Pro $25, Teams $30 per member.

Pick it for the fastest prompt-to-deployed-site path. Not if the non-technical cofounder needs to prompt without a paid seat, or you want approvals.

Poly

A browser room with one AI, Claude or ChatGPT, that both of you steer in one session. Every proposed change can appear as a plain-language card on both screens before it happens; every turn ends as a commit with a receipt naming who ran it and what it cost; either of you can undo any turn; the running app sits beside the conversation. Zed with Delta

Zed is a fast open-source editor with real-time multiplayer and agentic editing; Delta, announced in August 2026, is a separate multiplayer environment for coding with agents that replicates the conversation and the worktree for everyone in a thread. Zed is $0, $10 or $30 per seat; Delta is a private beta with no pricing yet.

Pick it if you are both engineers who want to co-edit in an editor with agents in the loop, and you can get into the beta. Not if one of you does not code, or you need it this month.

How to choose

1. Does one of you not code? Then Lovable or Poly; the rest assume a terminal or an editor.
2. Do you want to build at the same time, seeing the same thing? Poly. Lovable's drafts and Replit's threads are built to keep you apart until merge.
3. Do you need hosting for a backend today? Lovable, Bolt or Replit.
4. Do you both already live in Claude Code or Codex? AQ or Superconductor.
