Pricing
Claude Enterprise pricing: seats, usage at API rates, and what it costs in practice
Anthropic publishes the Enterprise price, which most AI vendors don't. The seat is the small part; usage is billed by the token. How it adds up.
Claude Enterprise costs $20 a seat a month, billed annually, and every token anyone uses is billed on top at Anthropic's API rates: seats "don't include usage." You can buy it yourself from 20 seats, paying for usage in advance as credits the whole organization shares, or through Anthropic's sales team from 50 seats, with usage invoiced monthly after the fact. For people who mostly chat, the total stays close to the seat price; for developers using Claude Code, Anthropic's own estimate is $150 to $250 per developer a month in usage. Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs, the Compliance API, custom retention, IP allowlisting and a HIPAA business associate agreement to what Team includes.
Key takeaways

How much does Claude Enterprise cost?
Two parts (Anthropic, help center):
- Seats: "US$20 per seat per month, billed annually." Anthropic says Enterprise seats have "no individual token allowance."
- Usage: chat, Cowork, Claude Code and everything else billed per token at API rates. Per million input and output tokens: Opus 5.5 $4 and $20, Sonnet 5.5 $2 and $10, Haiku 5.5 $0.10 and $0.50, Fable 5.1 $10 and $50. Every model's rates are in Claude API pricing.
- US-only inference costs 1.1 times the usage rate.
There are no per-seat usage limits: whoever uses more costs more, and admins control it with spend limits by organization, seat type or member.
Self-serve or sales-assisted?
Self-serve (Anthropic):
- At least 20 seats, bought online at claude.ai.
- Card or ACH, US dollars only, billed annually.
- Usage is prepaid as credits shared by the whole organization. When the balance reaches zero, "usage stops until more are purchased", for everyone.
- Seats added mid-term are charged right away, prorated to the end of the year; seats can't be removed mid-term.
Sales-assisted:
- At least 50 seats.
- Usage is "billed monthly in arrears", with invoicing and several currencies. Invoices of $50,000 or more are paid by bank transfer.
- Available through AWS Marketplace, and the only Claude plan with trials.
What will Claude Enterprise cost in practice?
The seat price is fixed; usage depends on what people do. Anthropic's Claude Code figures: "around $13 per developer per active day and $150-250 per developer per month," and under $30 per active day for 90% of users (Claude Code docs).
An example for 50 people, 10 of them developers. Our arithmetic, not Anthropic's:
- Seats: 50 × $20 = $1,000 a month, $12,000 a year.
- Developers on Claude Code: 10 × $150 to $250 = $1,500 to $2,500 a month.
- Everyone else chatting on Sonnet 5.5: someone sending 20 messages a day with about 10,000 tokens of context and 1,000 tokens of reply costs about $0.60 a day before caching, around $13 a month. 40 people: about $520. Prompt caching cuts the repeated context to a small fraction of that.
- Total: roughly $3,000 to $4,000 a month.
The same 50 people on Team, 40 standard seats and 10 premium, would pay $1,800 a month billed annually, with usage included up to each seat's limits. Below 150 people, Team is usually cheaper; Enterprise is what you buy for its controls, its unlimited usage and its size.
What does Enterprise add over Team?
- Identity: SCIM provisioning, custom roles and groups, and domain capture (Anthropic).
- Oversight: audit logs, exportable for the past 180 days, the Compliance API and IP allowlisting (Anthropic).
- Data: custom retention, with a minimum of 30 days; it doesn't cover Claude Design, Claude Tag or Managed Agents (Anthropic).
- Health data: a HIPAA-ready configuration with a business associate agreement, accepted by the primary owner and not reversible once on (Anthropic). Claude Code is covered only with zero data retention, which qualified accounts can get.
- Encryption and location: customer-managed keys in your own cloud provider, and US-only inference.

Moving from Team to Enterprise
A Team plan with at least 20 seats, paid by card, can move to self-serve Enterprise from its settings. Members, roles, chats and projects carry over, but Anthropic says the change is "not reversible" (Anthropic). Do the usage arithmetic first: heavy users on premium Team seats at $100 to $125 can cost more on Enterprise, where every token is billed. Team's own prices are in Claude Team plan pricing.
Claude Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise
Both bill usage on top of, or instead of, the seat. Anthropic publishes its seat price and minimums; OpenAI publishes neither, and quotes ChatGPT Enterprise through sales, as a shared credit pool or seat fees plus tokens. Details in ChatGPT Enterprise pricing.
A shared room on top
Enterprise gives each person their own Claude, under the company's controls. Poly (usepoly.co) adds the shared session: a room where a team works with one AI, Claude included, sees each step live, and any member can approve a change before it happens. Free to start. What is Poly?
