# Cursor pricing: every plan, how usage works, and what changed in 2026

The plan prices are simple. What you get for them isn't published any more. How Cursor's usage pools, Auto and per-model billing work now.

**Cursor has a free Hobby plan and three individual paid plans: Pro at $20 a month, Pro+ at $60 and Ultra at $200, about 20% less billed annually. Teams costs $40 a user a month, or $120 for a Premium seat with five times the usage; Enterprise is custom, and India has a Start plan at ₹649. Paid plans include two monthly usage pools: a large one for Cursor's own models (Composer 2.5 and the Grok models) and one for other labs' models such as Claude, GPT and Gemini, charged at each model's API price. Cursor no longer publishes how many dollars of usage each plan includes, and since August 2026 Auto bills at the price of whichever model it routes to.**

## Key takeaways

- **Plans:** Hobby free; Pro $20; Pro+ $60 ("3x Pro limits on Agent"); Ultra $200 ("20x"); Teams $40 a seat; Teams Premium $120.
- **Two pools:** Cursor Models (Grok 4.5 to 4.7, Composer 2.5) get "significantly more included usage"; Other Models are charged at API prices.
- **Past the limit:** turn on on-demand usage at API rates, with no markup on individual plans; Teams and Enterprise add $0.25 per million tokens on other labs' models.
- **Owner:** SpaceX completed its purchase of Cursor on August 14, 2026, and Grok is now one of Cursor's own models.
- **OpenAI models:** OpenAI has proposed ending its supply to Cursor on November 12, 2026.

## How much does Cursor cost?

From Cursor's pricing page and docs ([Cursor](https://cursor.com/pricing), [docs](https://cursor.com/docs/models-and-pricing)):

Prices exclude tax; Cursor adds sales tax, VAT or GST where it must collect it.

## How does Cursor's usage work?

Each paid plan has two pools that reset every billing month:

- **Cursor Models:** Grok 4.7, 4.6 and 4.5 and Composer 2.5, with much more included usage.
- **Other Models:** Claude, GPT, Gemini and others, "charged at the model's API price."

Cursor stopped publishing the dollar amount in each pool. A Cursor staff member wrote on September 25, 2026: "We no longer publish specific dollar amounts for included usage, since it can vary by plan and change over time" ([Cursor forum](https://forum.cursor.com/t/172012)). Your dashboard shows each pool as a percentage.

**Auto** picks a model for you, in three modes: Cost, Balance and Intelligence. "All Auto modes bill at the list price of the model each request is routed to," so Auto is no longer a flat, unlimited option.

**When a pool runs out,** you can turn on on-demand usage, billed afterwards at API rates, or upgrade; Cursor says requests are never downgraded in quality or speed. On individual plans on-demand is off until you switch it on, and you can set a spend limit.

## What does each model cost in Cursor?

Per million input and output tokens, from Cursor's model pricing table:

- **Claude Opus 5.5:** $4 and $20. **Claude Sonnet 5.5:** $2 and $10. **Claude Fable 5.1:** $10 and $50, the same as Anthropic's list prices.
- **GPT-5.6 Sol:** $4 and $20. **GPT-5.6 Terra:** $2 and $12.
- **Gemini 3.1 Pro:** $2 and $12.
- **Composer 2.5:** $0.50 and $2.50, or $3 and $15 in Fast mode.
- **Grok 4.7:** $2 and $6, or $4 and $12 in Fast mode.

On individual plans these are the whole price. On Teams and Enterprise, other labs' models also carry a "Cursor Token Rate of $0.25 per million tokens" on input, output and cached tokens, including your own API keys and Auto when it routes to them; Grok and Composer are exempt. Regional data residency adds 10%.

## What happens to OpenAI models in Cursor?

OpenAI said on August 28, 2026 that, after SpaceX's purchase of Cursor, it plans to stop supplying its models and proposed a shutoff on November 12, 2026; future models won't come to Cursor ([OpenAI](https://openai.com/index/our-decision-on-cursor-following-its-acquisition-by-spacex/)). Cursor's newest OpenAI models are GPT-5.6; the GPT-6 family isn't offered. OpenAI's suggested routes are your own OpenAI API key in Cursor (local chat and Agent only), the Codex extension inside Cursor, or a cloud provider ([OpenAI](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001506)). Cursor hasn't announced its plans beyond its forum. More in [Codex vs Cursor](/codex-vs-cursor).

## Cursor Teams and Enterprise pricing

- **Teams:** $40 a seat, or $120 for Premium. Usage is per person, not pooled; admins set team spend limits and alerts, and admins who don't code get free seats.
- **Enterprise:** pooled usage bought as a yearly commitment; unused commitment doesn't roll over ([Cursor](https://cursor.com/terms/pricing)).
- **Bugbot,** Cursor's code reviewer, dropped its $40 seat price in May 2026 and now bills by use, about $1 to $1.50 a review before a 22% cut in June ([Cursor](https://cursor.com/blog/may-2026-bugbot-changes)).

More in [Cursor for teams](/cursor-for-teams).

## How much is Cursor in India?

Cursor launched **Start** for India on July 28, 2026: ₹649 a month including tax, paid in rupees by UPI or card ([Cursor](https://cursor.com/blog/cursor-start-india)). It covers the Cursor Models pool and cloud agents, but not other labs' models, Auto, on-demand usage or Bugbot. Cursor says India is its third-largest market, with more than 3 million users. Pro and above are priced in dollars.

## Does Cursor have a student discount?

Not a standing one. Its student page says to "look out for promotions at our on-campus and online events starting this fall" ([Cursor](https://cursor.com/students)). The free tier is open to everyone.

## How has Cursor's pricing changed?

- **June 16, 2025:** Pro moved from 500 requests to $20 of model usage at API prices, and Ultra launched. Cursor apologized and offered refunds on July 4 ([Cursor](https://cursor.com/blog/june-2025-pricing)).
- **September 2025:** Auto began counting against individual usage.
- **May 11, 2026:** Bugbot moved to usage billing.
- **June 2026:** Teams got the two pools and the Premium seat.
- **July 28, 2026:** Start launched in India.
- **August 14, 2026:** SpaceX completed its purchase of Cursor.
- **Late August 2026:** Auto moved to the routed model's list price.

## Is Cursor cheaper than Claude Code?

At the entry price they match: Claude Pro is $20 a month ($17 annually) and includes Claude Code, with a five-hour limit and weekly limits instead of a dollar pool; Max is $100 or $200 ([Claude Code pricing](/claude-code-pricing)). Cursor's own guidance is that daily Agent users typically spend $60 to $100 a month in total and power users $200 or more. If you mostly use Claude models, Claude's plans give more Claude usage per dollar than paying API prices through Cursor; if you want Cursor's editor, Grok and Composer are its cheap path. Side by side in [Claude Code vs Cursor](/claude-code-vs-cursor).

## One agent for the whole team

Cursor's usage and sessions are per person, even on Teams. Poly (usepoly.co) is a shared browser room where a team works with one Claude Code or Codex agent: everyone sees each step live, and any member can approve a change before it happens. Free to start. [What is Poly?](/what-is-poly)
