**The Claude Team plan costs $20 a seat a month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly, for a standard seat, and $100 or $125 for a premium seat with five times the usage. It's for 2 to 150 people, paid by card, and you can mix the two seat types. Every seat includes Claude Code, Cowork and single sign-on, each member has their own usage limits, and owners can buy extra usage at API rates. Since October 2026 the plan also includes monthly API credits: $20 for each standard seat and $100 for each premium seat, up to $500.** There's no free trial, and above 150 people you need Enterprise.

## Key takeaways

- **Standard seat:** $20 a month billed annually or $25 monthly, with 1.25 times Pro's usage per session.
- **Premium seat:** $100 or $125, with five times a standard seat's usage and Fable 5.1 access.
- **Size:** at least two members, at most 150 seats.
- **Limits are per person:** one member's heavy week doesn't use up anyone else's allowance, and allowances can't be shared.
- **Extra usage:** prepaid credits at standard API rates, with spend limits for the organization and per member.
- **API credits:** up to $500 a month for the Claude API, but not for Claude Code.

## How much does the Claude Team plan cost?

From Anthropic's pricing page and help center ([Anthropic](https://claude.com/pricing), [help center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/9266767)):

- **Standard seat:** $20 a month billed annually, $25 billed monthly. Anthropic gives it "1.25x the Pro plan's per-session usage allowance", plus a weekly limit.
- **Premium seat:** $100 or $125, with five times a standard seat's usage, which is 6.25 times Pro's. Premium seats can use Fable 5.1, up to half of their weekly limits.
- **Seats:** "Team plans require a minimum of two members" and "support up to 150 seats."
- **Payment:** credit, debit or prepaid card. There's no invoicing or bank transfer on Team, and annual billing is paid up front ([Anthropic](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12997503)).

What a team pays in practice, before any extra usage:

- **5 people, all standard:** $100 a month billed annually, or $125 monthly.
- **10 people, 8 standard and 2 premium:** $360 a month billed annually ($4,320 a year), or $450 monthly.
- **40 people, 30 standard and 10 premium:** $1,600 a month billed annually, or $2,000 monthly.

Prices exclude tax.

## How do Claude Team usage limits work?

Each member has their own limits: a five-hour session allowance and a weekly limit, shared across chat, Cowork and Claude Code. They aren't pooled, so a light user's leftover allowance can't go to a heavy one. How the limits behave, and what uses them fastest, is in [Claude Code usage limits](/claude-code-usage-limits).

When someone runs out, owners can turn on extra usage:

- **Usage credits** are prepaid by an owner, optionally with auto-reload, and "billed at standard API rates." They cover chat, Cowork and Claude Code ([Anthropic](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12005970)).
- **Spend limits** can be set for the whole organization and for individual members. Limits by seat type are for Enterprise plans only.

For someone who keeps running out on a standard seat, a premium seat at $100 to $125 usually costs less than buying their extra usage at API rates. Anthropic puts the average Claude Code user at about $13 per active day at API prices ([Claude Code docs](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/costs)).

## What are the Team plan API credits?

Since October 7, 2026, Team plans come with monthly credits for Anthropic's developer platform: $20 for each standard seat and $100 for each premium seat, "pooled into one monthly balance, capped at $500" ([Anthropic](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/17154008)). A team with three standard seats and two premium seats gets $260 a month.

- **How to claim:** an owner links one Claude Console organization, after the plan has been active for seven days.
- **What they cover:** the Claude API, Managed Agents, the Agent SDK and the Console's Workbench.
- **What they don't:** Claude Code and extra usage in the Claude apps.
- **Expiry:** "Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle"; they don't roll over.

Max subscribers got the same offer: $100 a month on Max 5x and $200 on Max 20x ([Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/news/claude-haiku-5-5)). What those credits buy per model is in [Claude API pricing](/claude-api-pricing).

## What does every Team seat include?

- Claude Code in the terminal, the editor, the desktop app and the web ([Claude Code for teams](/claude-code-for-teams)).
- Cowork, and Claude Design, Docs and Slides in beta.
- [Claude Tag](/what-is-claude-tag), Claude in Slack channels, in beta, with channel use billed to the organization.
- Single sign-on and just-in-time provisioning ([Anthropic](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/13133195)).
- Shared projects within the organization ([how project sharing works](/share-claude-project)), connectors and enterprise search.
- No training on your conversations by default.

Team doesn't include SCIM, audit logs, the Compliance API, custom data retention, IP allowlisting or a HIPAA business associate agreement. Those are Enterprise features ([Claude Team vs Enterprise](/claude-team-vs-enterprise)).

## Adding seats, removing seats and upgrading

- **Adding seats** is charged right away, prorated to your billing cycle. Buying a premium seat when none is free charges the prorated difference ([Anthropic](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12004354)).
- **Removing seats** takes effect "at your next renewal", with no prorated refund.
- **From Pro or Max:** joining or starting a Team plan cancels the individual subscription with a prorated refund for the unused part, about a day after the Team payment.
- **To Enterprise:** the self-serve move needs at least 20 seats and keeps members, roles, chats and projects, but Anthropic says it can't be reversed ([Claude Enterprise pricing](/claude-enterprise-pricing)).

## Is the Claude Team plan worth it?

- **For two people:** two standard seats cost $40 to $50 a month, the same as two Pro plans, plus shared projects, central billing and single sign-on.
- **For heavy Claude Code users:** a premium seat costs the same as Max 5x ($100) on annual billing, with the same usage multiple over Pro, inside the team's admin controls ([Claude Max vs Pro](/claude-max-vs-pro)).
- **For a team over 150 people, or one that needs audit logs, SCIM or a HIPAA agreement:** Team won't do; Enterprise prices seats at $20 plus every token.

## Claude Team vs ChatGPT Business

ChatGPT Business has the same seat prices, $20 billed annually or $25 monthly, with premium seats at $100 or $125, and allows up to 200 seats instead of 150. Each includes its lab's coding agent: Claude Code on Team, Codex on Business.
